Book of the Week: Barney and Baby Bop Go To The Doctor by Mark Bernthal

Activities of the Day for Monday: We started off our day by playing with our busy beads and building with our alphabet blocks. Then we had IRT (This week we worked on returning our book to the bookshelf before choosing a new book.). We introduced the BOTW and the SOTW. We watched an Elmo movie (and talked about how he is red like our COTM) called Music Works Wonders and talked about lots of ways to make music (humming, tapping, clapping, singing, plus instruments!). Later, we built with our bristle blocks and played our magnetic fishing game while listening to our Raffi's Rise and Shine music. We also built with Duplos, played with Little People and built our Build and Stack PopOnz City.

Special Enrichment for Monday: We had Baking Day where we enjoyed making Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies!
We also played our game called "From Head to Toe" (a body awareness game).

Activities of the Day for Tuesday: We began our day by playing with our dinosaurs and Hotwheels. Then we had IRT where we continued to work on returning our book to the bookshelf before choosing a new book. We sang the SOTW and read the BOTW. We played with our kitchen toys, built with our bristle blocks, and played with our busy beads.

Special Enrichment for Tuesday: It was raining today, so we were not able to go on our Nature Walk and Picnic. So instead, we watched a movie - The Letter Factory! We learned about letters and the sounds they make!
We also made Medical Kit Collages by gluing vinyl gloves, alcohol wipes, bandages, gauze, etc. to a piece of paper.

Activities of the Day for Wednesday: We started our day by building with wooden blocks and playing with our electronic learning toys (we worked on identifying letters by sight and sound and played a problem solving game.). Then we had IRT where we continued to work on on returning our book to the bookshelf before choosing a new book. We read the BOTW and sang the SOTW.  We built with the bristle blocks and alphabet blocks (We talked about the letters on them and words that started with them - F (Fish), M (Mouse), etc.) while listening to Raffi's "Rise and Shine" music. We played with our train set, kitchen toys, baby dolls and animal bin while listening to classical music. We also played a fun bug building game called "Cooties" where we had to identify the head, body, and legs of each bug.

Special Enrichment for Wednesday: We had Computer Day today and played our Fisher Price 1,2,3 game where we had to match by number and do counting games!

We also read a hilarious book called Parts by Todd Arnold that talked about a boy and his body parts that he was afraid were coming apart!

Activities of the Day for Thursday: We began our day by building with Lincoln Logs and making silly faces with our Mr. Potato Heads. Then we had IRT where we continued to work on returning our book to the bookshelf before choosing a new book. We sang the SOTW and read the BOTW.  We listened to our “It’s a Great Day” CD on the way to the library. Later in the day, we played with our Little People playsets.

Special Enrichment for Thursday: We played with our Doctor’s Kit and explored items that doctors use – medicine droppers, cotton swabs, bandages, vinyl gloves’ gauze and more! It was lots of fun.

We also went to Story Time at the library. The theme for the week was “Cats”. We enjoyed listening to several stories about cats and making a cat art project. We danced, sang and did fingerplays, too!

Activities of the Day for Friday: We started our day off by playing with our Hotwheels and building with our Legos. Then we had IRT where we continued to work on returning our book to the bookshelf before choosing a new book. We read the BOTW and sang the SOTW. We played in our kitchen center and pretended to feed our baby dolls. We played with our train set and read our themed books.

Special Enrichment for Friday: We read some Clifford the Big Red Dog books (he is the COTM).

We watched two short theme related movies for Movie Day –
1.     Curious George Goes to the Doctor (30 minutes)
2.     Visiting the Doctor With Bear in the Big Blue House (45 minutes)

THIS ENDS TOMORROW!

Parents - If you haven't noticed already, we are currently having a contest on our Facebook page. Here's how to play and win:
Who wants to win a $20 Gift Card for Target? TIME FOR A CONTEST!!! Here's how to play: Spread the word to everyone you know on Facebook about us. Once your friends and family "like" our page, simply have them click "like" on any picture that includes your child(ren). {If more children that just yours are in the picture, please also make a comment on this picture referencing which child you are clicking "like" for. PLEASE NOTE: ONLY USE A CHILD'S NAME IF THE CHILD'S NAME IS ALREADY MENTIONED IN THE CAPTION OF THE PICTURE - SOME PARENTS PREFER THEIR CHILD'S NAME NOT BE POSTED ON OUR PAGE - IF YOU CANNOT USE THE CHILD'S NAME WHEN COMMENTING, SIMPLY SAY SOMETHING LIKE "LOOK AT THE CUTIE IN THE PURPLE SHIRT" OR "CHECK OUT THAT HANDSOME GUY WITH THE HAT ON".}

If your child's picture is posted on our page, you can play to win! It does not matter if you are a current parent, former parent, or your children's pictures are here simply because you were a Special Visitor for us.

Even if you "like" us and have no children enrolled with us, you can still play! Click "like" on the pics that you think are of some cutie pies and help get them extra votes!

This contest starts now and will end Sunday, October 2nd at 9 PM EST. The family with the most "likes" wins. Not the child with the most "likes", the family. All results will be posted at the end of the contest.
And all "likes" on pictures made before the contest started will count. The "likes" aren't dated, so that would just make it more complicated to exclude them.
