Book of the Week {BOTW}: Best Thanksgiving Book by Pat Whitehead

Activities of the Day for Monday: We started our day by playing in our Laugh and Learn Learning House, climbing on our indoor slide and using our shape sorters. Then we enjoyed IRT (Independent Reading Time) where we focused this week on putting our book away on the shelf where we found it when we are finished reading it. Next we introduced our BOTW and SOTW. Then we enjoyed building with our mini waffle blocks and playing with our Little People playsets and musical instruments.

Special Enrichment for Monday: We played a color recognition game called “‘Round the Turkey”....children walk in a circle around a turkey with multi-colored feathers. I sang, “’Round the turkey, ‘round the turkey, here we go! Here we go! (child’s name), can you find a color of this kind, please find (color), please find (color).” Then the child finds the feather that is that color. Fun!
We also made yummy baked apples!

Activities of the Day for Tuesday: We began our day by exploring our Laugh and Learn Learning House, using our shape sorters and playing with our baby dolls and kitchen toys. Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on putting our book away on the shelf where we found it when we are finished reading it. After that, we sang our SOTW and read our BOTW. We also had fun playing with our electronic learning toys and musical instruments.


Special Enrichment for Tuesday: We talked about how turkeys say “Gobble” and “strut” is how they walk.

Activities of the Day for Wednesday: We started our day by playing with our dollhouse and in our play kitchen. Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on putting our book away on the shelf where we found it when we are finished reading it. After that, we sang our SOTW and read our BOTW. We also had fun building with our bristle blocks and playing with our bristle blocks.

Special Enrichment for Wednesday: We played on our computer today – Winnie the Pooh Preschool!
We also painted our very own Indian Corn project!

Activities of the Day for Thursday: We began our day by playing with our indoor slide, exploring our Laugh and Learn Learning House and our kitchen toys. Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on putting our book away on the shelf where we found it when we are finished reading it. After, we sang our SOTW and read the BOTW. We also enjoyed playing with our dinosaurs and our busy beads.

Special Enrichment for Thursday: We had some fun with Play-doh and tried to make food from our Play-doh.


Activities of the Day for Friday: We started our day by exploring our Laugh and Learn Learning House, playing on our indoor slide, and playing with our kitchen toys. Next, we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on putting our book away on the shelf where we found it when we are finished reading it. We sang the SOTW and read the BOTW. We also liked building with our bumpy blocks and wooden blocks, playing with out Hotwheels and getting creative with our chain links.

Special Enrichment for Friday: We watched the movie A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.
And we went on a Brown Hunt to look for brown things!

Activities of the Day for Monday: We started our day by playing with our musical instruments and Mr. Potato Heads. Then we enjoyed IRT (Independent Reading Time) where we focused this week on carefully turning the pages of our book. Next we introduced our BOTW and SOTW. Then we enjoyed building with our bumpy blocks and playing with our electronic learning toys.
Special Enrichment for Monday: We dissected a pumpkin! Wow! It is gooey and stringy in there.
We had lots of fun baking pumpkin seeds from inside the pumpkin today!

We also had fun pretending in our toy kitchen and playing with our electronic learning toys.

Special Enrichment for Wednesday: We played on our computer today – Jumpstart Preschool!
Our calendar said for us to wear brown today and no one remembered (Not even Ms. Becky or Daniella!)

Activities of the Day for Thursday: We began our day by playing with our babies, shape sorters and our kitchen toys. Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on carefully turning the pages of our book. After, we sang our SOTW and read the BOTW. We also enjoyed playing with our musical instruments, our gardening set, our dollhouse and our busy beads.

Special Enrichment for Thursday: We had some fun with Play-doh and tried to make turkeys from our Play-doh.

We also watched pretended to be turkeys! (Sooooo adorable!)

Activities of the Day for Friday: We started our day by playing with our musical insruments and our farm animals. Next, we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on carefully turning the pages of our book. We sang the SOTW and read the BOTW. We also liked building with our bumpy blocks.

Special Enrichment for Friday: We watched the movie Pocahontas about Native Americans!

November Newsletter Week of October 31st - November 4th (Week 1 of Gobbling Up Our Food!)

(Sung just like “The Hokey Pokey”, except that you substitute turkey body part names such as “right wing”, “left wing”, “tail feathers”, and “wattle”!

Book of the Week {BOTW} : Growing Vegetable Soup by Lois Elhert

Activities of the Day for Monday: We started our day by using our shape sorters and playing with our farm animals and musical instruments. Then we enjoyed IRT (Independent Reading Time) where we focused this week on holding our book appropriately while trying to read it. Next we introduced our BOTW and SOTW.
Special Enrichment for Monday: We watched a short movie called Barney’s Halloween Party; then talked about what we were going to dress up as for Halloween.
We also had lots of fun baking applebread today!

Activities of the Day for Tuesday: We began our day by playing with our Lights and Sound Show toy, exploring our Laugh and Learn Learning House and using our shape sorters. Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on holding our book appropriately while trying to read it. After that, we sang our SOTW and read our BOTW. We also played with our farm animals, played on our indoor slide, had fun pretending in our toy kitchen (including our new Elmo toy microwave!), as well as playing musical instruments (a new favorite toy bin to take out!) and having fun with our dollhouse.

Special Enrichment for Tuesday: We practiced learning the American Sign Language (ASL) sign for the word “vegetable”. We also talked about various kinds of vegetables today.
And we watched a short movie called Baby Mozart.

Activities of the Day for Wednesday: We started our day by playing with musical instruments, playing with toy magnets and building with our bumpy blocks. Next we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on holding our book appropriately while trying to read it. Then we read the BOTW and sang the SOTW. After that, we had fun reading some of our theme related books.

Special Enrichment for Wednesday: We talked about which veggies we like and which veggies we don’t like…out of this list of veggies – no one disliked ANY of them!
{Here is the list - corn, potatoes, cucumbers, onions, carrots, pumpkins, beans, peas, mushrooms, peppers and broccoli!}

Activities of the Day for Thursday: Today we welcomed a new friend – Mia!
We began our day by playing with our Hotwheels and our musical instruments, as well as our baby dolls and dollhouse. Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on holding our book appropriately while trying to read it. After, we sang our SOTW and read the BOTW. We also enjoyed playing with the toy kitchen and our Little People toys and playsets.

Special Enrichment for Thursday: We examined and explored an ear of corn and talked about the parts of it (husk, silk, cob, etc.). Then we peeled it and painted with it! We also had some fun with Play-doh and tried to make veggies from our Play-doh.

We also watched a short movie called Elmo’s Favorite Songs!

Activities of the Day for Friday: We started our day by creating with our chain links, playing in our Laugh and Learn Learning Home, and playing with our Batter’s Up toy. Next, we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on holding our book appropriately while trying to read it. We sang the SOTW and read the BOTW. We also liked playing with our baby dolls, Lights and Sounds Show toy and musical instruments.

Special Enrichment for Friday: We made a brown collage using scraps of brown paper, scraps of brown fabric, magazine cutouts of brown things and glue!
We also watched the movie Blue’s CafĂ© about restaurants and ordering things to eat!

Activities of the Day for Saturday: We began our day by exploring our Laugh and Learn Learning Home, playing on our indoor slide, and using our shape sorters. Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on holding our book appropriately while trying to read it. We read the BOTW and sang the SOTW. We got creative with our busy beads, played in our toy kitchen, played with our baby dolls and built with our chain links.

Special Enrichment for Saturday: We explored the Native American history at the museum at Reinhardt University. We saw tools that Native Americans used, arrowheads they made, pelts of animal skin, recreations of what they looked like and saw a real teepee and played games that Native American children once played! It was lots of fun!

On Saturday, October 29th, our daughter turned one :) Such a big step :) Mommy wants to cry!
