Product Review of Vegetable Keep Sack Foodsaver by Reuseit

Reuseit is a great company to find foodsaver items to use in your kitchen! I have been testing out their onion foodsaver for the last few weeks and I am very pleased with the results.

Check this out -

Side A 11/15/12

Side B 11/15/12

I then added it to the Onion Keep Sack Foodsaver and hung it in my pantry -

It is very easy to hand on a hook or with a clip. It is very easy to open both at the top to load newer onions in and at the bottom to remove the older onions first.

Here is the same onion -

Side B 12/12/12

Side A 12/12/12

These pictures were taken 4 weeks apart and the onion is still in great condition! But wait...there is more...

Side A 12/20/12

Size B 12/20/12

12/20/12 A very small eye had just begun to form

12/20/12 A very small eye had begun to form

Wow! After 5 weeks of this onion being in the Vegetable Keep Sack Foodsaver and it had JUST begun to grow a small eye - it was still VERY much edible and the onion tasted great!

The Mastrad Foodsaver bags come in three different sizes on the Reuseit website-

Garlic and Shallot (holds up to 2 lbs) is $8.95!

Onion (holds up to 4 lbs) is $.9.95!

Potato (holds up to 8 lbs) is $11.95!

Product Review with Giveaway for Vinyl Disorder US ONLY (Ends 12/31/12)

Vinyl Disorder - Custom Car & Wall Vinyl Graphics

You know those cute little stick family decals almost everyone has on the back window of their cars? Yeah, those things! Vinyl Disorder makes those...but not the typical stick family! This company's website is so cool! You can literally customize your decals to your family's preferences! Like Star Wars? Turtles? Crosses? Football? There is something for everyone on this site!

When my order first arrived, I was a bit worried. The vinyls arrived in a simple manilla envelope and it was bent. The outer part of the envelope did not have "DO NOT BEND" written or stamped on it nor was there an inner cardstock sheet to helps prevent bending. This is something I would encourage Vinyl Disorder to include int he future as the vinyl WAS bent when I pulled it out. Luckily, there was no  issues with applying the vinyl nor with it adhering to my SUV's back window! :)

See the crease on the left?

Crease on the left

Bigger crease in the middle

No "Do Not Bend" or cardboard insert to prevent bending

Attaching the vinyl clovers that I chose was super easy. (It came with directions which were a huge help!)

Clovers!

Overall I am very pleased with the way they look on my SUV. I love the contrast of the white and black and I like how the white looks against the tinted glass. They don't look like they will come off very easily :) They have been out in the sun, wind, rain and cold. Great weather resistance.

You can win a Family Decal Kit, too!

Product Review with Giveaway for Barefoot Yoga Co.(Ends 12/31/12) US ONLY

Barefoot Yoga Co.

I contacted Barefoot Yoga Co. a few months ago about doing a review for them and they gladly said yes! I was excited to see what their products would be like. They sent me a Hybrid Eco Mat (in the color Kiln) and a Silk Sari Eye Pillow (in the Rassi Rust design).

So background info about these products:
The Barefoot Hybrid Eco Mat combines the best of eco-friendly and traditional mats. They are better fir the environment and your health than traditional PVC mats and have long lasting performance. The mesh scrim (the "skeleton" of the mat)is made from 100% recycled polyester, which contributes to its longevity and strength. The Hybrid Mats do not not contain phthalates or heavy metals and the method of production is completely non-toxic and latex free. The Hybrid Eco Mat can be cleaned by wiping it down with a diluted dolution of soap and water (20 parts water to 1 part soap). Allow the mat to air dry completely when possible before rolling.

Escape from it all with their 100% silk aromatherapy eye pillows. These are made in India from ceremonial sari designs and solid colors, filled with flax seeds and dried lavender and are soft and cooling eye pillows that work as a mood tonic, antidepressant, headache remedy and detoxifier. The shape of the pillow contours to your face adding gentle pressure and blocking out light, relieving tension and calming active muscles around the eyes. Used for deepening relaxation during Savasana, meditation and afternoon naps. The pillows are hand washable, refillable and adjustable with a zippered opening.  Simply unzip, empty the contents and wash!

No one in our home had ever done yoga before these items arrived. We literally had to Google simple yoga poses for kids to even know where to begin! But once we started using the yoga mat for yoga, the kids LOVED it! They ask me all the time now if they can do yoga!

Brandon doing the Tree pose

Attempting to do the Tree pose...harder for a 2 yr old to stand on one foot with arms above her head!!

Brandon had to help balance her

Learning to do the Butterfly pose

Daniella loved pretending to be a butterfly!

Kite pose!

Brandon loved this one.

Trying to do the Kite pose

They have really enjoyed learning yoga and I have loved that it has been on an eco-friendly yoga mat. The mat was plenty big enough for the two of them to use together so I am sure that an average size adult should easily be able to use it.

The Silk Eye Pillow was amazing! It literally became my bed time buddy. I have slept with it practically every night since it arrived. The lavender and flax seeds are very soothing and it has helped relieved a lot of tension and many headaches. My only suggestion for this item would be to add a latex free strap to be able to keep it on your head so it doesn't fall off when you roll over in your sleep - which happened a lot to me! :)

I keep it in my nightstand drawer.

Rassi Rust Eye Pillow

Overall, I have been very pleased with these products. Barefoot Yoga Co. sells so much more than just these two products! They also sell yoga clothing, hemp clothing, yoga books, dvds and cds and more!

You can win your very own Rassi Rust Silk Eye Pillow!

A Case of Forced Vaccination

For those of you who do not vaccinate or who choose to selectively vaccinate or even those of you who choose to spread vaccines out....or even those of you who DO fully vaccinate but just have a good conscience...For those of you who do not know what force vaccination is - it basically is when a child is given a vaccine without parental permission, specifically more often when a parent has refused vaccination.

There was a recent case in New York state where a child was force vaccinated and the courts ruled that it was okay! That is quite a scary thought.  This child was only in KINDERGARTEN! SO...THE GOVERNMENT CAN VACCINATE CHILDREN AS YOUNG AS 5 WITHOUT PARENTAL PERMISSION IN THE NAME OF "PUBLIC HEALTH"???? Sooooo not okay with me.

What if the child had had a reaction to the vaccine? Who would be held accountable? Not to mention - WHAT ABOUT THE POOR CHILD????

Having had a child who had a reaction to a vaccine which began us on the journey of being informed about vaccines, which then led us to decide to not further vaccinate him and to never vaccinate our youngest - the thought of a child having a reaction to a forced vaccine is scary. Not only is the idea of forced vaccination a medical issue, it is also potentially a RELIGIOUS ISSUE! We have religious exemptions on file. After researching vaccines further, we realized (now have INFORMED consent being involved)that vaccines are truly against our religious beliefs....and last I checked, state and church were still supposed to be separated!

Plus there is that potential issue of some vaccine ingredients being an allergen to certain individuals would could be a HUGE medical issue at hand.

My view point on this -

MY CHILDREN - GET YOUR HANDS, YOUR NEEDLES, YOUR NASAL SPRAYS AND YOUR ORAL DROPS AWAY FROM THEM!  BECAUSE I SAID SO. You need no further explanation as to why.

Now, God forbid, forced vaccination ever becomes a reality to your family, check out this blog post that I did about suggestions about what to do if you are ever forced to vaccinate.

What are your viewpoints on vaccines? What do you think about forced vaccination?

Product Review and Giveaway for Bum Boosa Bamboo Products (US ONLY Ends 12/31/12)

Bum Boosa Bamboo Products - South Mashpee, MA

I was so excited to receive my Bum Boosa Bamboo Products to review!! I was very curious about how such a hard thing as bamboo could be used in products that I would want to use on my daughter or myself. These are the items that I received to review:

(1) 80 count pack of wipes, (1) 0.5 ounce sample size of Diaper Rash Ointment, and (1) single roll of bathroom tissue.

I was initially kind of leery about reviewing toilet paper. Just ask my husband, Michael -  I am VERY particular about toilet paper! Some are too thin, others too thick, some leave behind too much residue, etc. But...this toilet paper is the BEST I have ever tried. No joke. It was the perfect thickness. I have NEVER found a toilet paper that was the perfect thickness. Most I just "make do" with. It left behind no residue either! Plus, while it wasn't super soft, it also didn't feel like sandpaper. I absolutely loved it.

The wipes are INCREDIBLE. They are scented with lavender and sweet orange essential oils. Typically, I do not buy scented wipes (I do not buy disposable wipes at all for Daniella, only for the children that I provide child care for.). But these wipes smell divine! I know that probably sounds crazy but I loved the smell every time I opened the package. Daniella loves them too. She will ask for one just to mostly sniff it. :) She will use it to "clean"  her toys but she will mostly sniff it.

I love the thorough ingredient list. Not to mention I love the ingredients themselves - alcohol-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, tree-free! I especially love that they are chlorine-free!

The only thing better would be to make them flushable, as Daniella is learning to use the potty. :)

I wish I could have gotten a better picture of this! This diaper cream is really good. A little bit goes a long way and I LOVE that it is cloth diaper safe!!

Bum Boosa Bamboo Products has an incredible FAQ section on their website for tons more information about them too!

Overall, I think these products are awesome! I just wish they were easier to buy in stores!

Our lucky giveaway winner will receive 3 packs of wipes AND a diaper rash ointment! Woo-hoo!

The Holiday Season Can Be So Exhausting!

It feels as though I have been go-go-going since before Thanksgiving! We spent a lovely week on vacation then followed by our return and the many reviews involved with that. Then the mad rush of sponsors came in who wanted a review posted for them before Christmas. I still have more to go! Whew! I feel like I will never catch up! Then, add in preparing for Christmas, celebrating the Advent season with my family, being blessed by complete strangers, and driving 16 hours each way (non-stop) to NJ in a super short weekend visit in order to see my lovely niece have her bat mitzvah (which was an incredible experience) - I'm talking we left her on a Thursday after Brandon got home from school, drove straight through, arriving Friday morning. Crashing for a few hours of sleep then meeting up with some friends and family. Spending almost the entire day Saturday with my niece, nephew and family, seeing more friends Saturday night and leaving super early Sunday and driving straight through again to return home at midnight Sunday night! I am completely exhausted and it isn't even Christmas yet! I feel like I need a vacation again! lol We will visit my mom for Christmas in Kentucky. That should be fun for the kids. This is Daniella's 3rd Christmas now but her first one where she can sort of understand what is going on. She is VERY excited about opening PRESENTS! Not to mention that I feel like I am still figuring out how to be a blogger + mom + wife + child care provider! Balancing all of that gets tricky at times. Plus I have been working my tail off on my one year blogiversary event in January! I am SUPER excited about that! I cannot wait to begin revealing it all to you guys! But...for now, I need sleep. Some wonderful, uninterrupted sleep...haven't had that since before I got pregnant with Daniella :) Literally. I have not slept for more than 5 hours straight (on a good night) since my pregnancy with her. Lucky me :) Good night, my friends. Be well rested for Christmas!

How exhausted have you been lately? Do you think it is related to Christmas?

PRODUCT REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY FOR DOTERRA ESSENTIAL OILS (ENDS 12/26/12) CONTINENTAL US ONLY

I contacted this DoTerra distributor a couple of months ago about doing a review and giveaway  and I was very excited when he agreed. He is a very knowledgeable and highly motivated person who gladly sent me two sample size bottles of essential oils to review.

Lemon and Peppermint (sorry the picture is a bit dark)

These may be really small bottles, but with essential oils, a little bit goes a looooong way! Peppermint especially because the scent is quite strong. (in a good way!)                                                                      1. What are essential oils?
(info from a DoTerra info sheet)
They are extracts from plants.
They are 50 to 70 times more powerful than herbs.
1 drop of peppermint essential oil = 28 cups of peppermint tea!
                                                              2. A Natural Alternative to Synthetic Drugs
An essential oil can have hundreds of different compounds.
Each compound has a different medicinal benefit
                                        Pharmaceutical companies mimic natural compounds
Over 250,000 Americans die each years from pharmaceuticals
                                                              3. They Kill Viruses and Bacteria
Bacteria resides on the outside of a cell and viruses on the inside
Pharmaceutical antibiotics are unable to penetrate the cell membrane to fight viruses
Essential oils penetrate the cell membrane and can kill viruses and bacteria
                                                                4. The DoTerra Difference
Plant material is sourced from native origins
Growers are selected, trained and monitored on harvest practices
Each liter undergoes multiple 3rd party testing to certify purity and potency
Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade is organic, verifies pure, free of pesticides & foreign contaminants
                                                                 5. CPTG Essential Oils Work Fast
One drop can service every cell of your body
                                                                 6. Three Ways to Use Essential Oils
                                        a. Aromatic
                                            1. Breathe in or use diffuser to:
                                            2. Kill germs in the air
                                            3. Open airways
                                            4. Affect mood, including depression
                                         b. Topical
                                            1. Apply to localized area
                                            2. From bottom of feet, enters blood stream within 30 seconds
                                            3. Apply to head, feet, ears, chest and the back of the neck
                                          c. Internal
                                             1. This method is specific to DoTerra CPTG Oils
                                             2. Take in a gel capsule, under tongue or in water                                      3. 3. Relieves issues in the: digestive system, mouth & throat, liver and urogenital tract

As you can see, there are LOTS of ways to use these! I have used the peppermint for headaches and nausea. I have used the lemon on open wounds. Every time I have used them, it has been with great success.

There are many distributors of DoTerra and you can even become one yourself is you would like to! The DoTerra Distributor that I went through is DoTerra North America.

Here I put the bottles next to an empty toilet paper tube for you to get a good idea as to their size. I want to make it clear that these are sample size bottles and not full size. But like I said, a little goes a long way! EDITED TO ADD: I WANT TO MAKE IT SUPER CLEAR THAT EVEN THOUGH THIS SIZE BOTTLE MAY BE FOR SALE THROUGH DOTERRA, THESE BOTTLES ARE *MAYBE* 1/4 FULL.

Here is the Prize Pack that our winner will win!!

This Prize Pack includes (1) sample size Peppermint Essential Oil, (1) sample size Citrus Bliss Essential Oil and (1) Essential Oil Usage Guide . The Guide is an incredible wealth of knowledge! It tells you ways to use all kinds of essential oils!
