Book of the Week: Old MacDonald Had a Farm by David A. Carter


What We Did On Monday: We began our day by playing with our electronic learning toys (to learn colors, numbers, shapes, and letters) and our ride on toys (to develop gross motor skills). Then we enjoyed Independent Reading Time (IRT) where we focused this week on putting our book back on the shelf when we are finished reading it. After that, I introduced the BOTW and the SOTW. Later we played with our baby dolls (to learn how to be nurturing and sympathetic of the feelings of others), kitchen toys (to develop our imagination), used our shape sorters (to learn to match), built with our waffle blocks (to learn how to interlock) and played with our schoolhouse toy (to learn about places and people).




Special Enrichment for Monday: We played with our farm animal toys!


What We Did On Tuesday: We started our day off by playing with our played with our dinosaurs (to learn about their similarities and differences) and our baby dolls (to learn how to be nurturing and sympathetic of the feelings of others). Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on putting our book back on the shelf when we are finished reading it. Then we sang the SOTW and read the BOTW. Later in the day, we also played with our electronic learning toys (to learn colors, numbers, shapes, and letters), built with Legos (to learn how to interlock), built with our waffle blocks (to learn how to interlock), played with our dollhouse (to learn to match parts of a room with the room and to develop our imaginations), and worked on puzzles (to develop basic math skills and matching).




Special Enrichment for Tuesday: We talked about various sounds that farm animals make! We also watched The Best of Elmo.


What We Did On Wednesday: We began our day by building with Legos (to learn how to interlock) and playing with our kitchen toys (to develop our imagination). Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on putting our book back on the shelf when we are finished reading it. Then we read the BOTW and sang the SOTW. After that, we enjoyed playing with our baby dolls (to learn how to be nurturing and sympathetic of the feelings of others), using our shape sorters (to learn to match), building with our Duplo blocks (to develop fine motor skills), playing with our schoolhouse toy (to learn about places and people) and musical instruments (to learn about the sounds of and parts of various instruments).



Special Enrichment for Wednesday: We made a yellow collage using yellow scraps of paper, yellow ribbon, yellow buttons, yellow pom poms and more! We also watched a VeggieTales movie called Larry Boy and the Fib From Outer Space: A Lesson in Lying. AND we played in the water table!!!



What We Did On Thursday: We started our day by playing with our Little People playsets (to develop our imaginations) and our toy cars (to develop fine motor skills). Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on putting our book back on the shelf when we are finished reading it. Then we sang the SOTW and read the BOTW. Later in the day, we also played with our baby dolls (to learn how to be nurturing and sympathetic of the feelings of others).


Special Enrichment for Thursday: We went for a Nature Walk. We played with our farm animal toys. We listened to our VeggieTales CD!




What We Did On Friday: We began our day by playing with our baby dolls (to learn how to be nurturing and sympathetic of the feelings of others) and exploring our Laugh and Learn Home (to develop our gross motor skills). Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on putting our book back on the shelf when we are finished reading it.Then we read the BOTW and sang the SOTW. After that, we enjoyed playing with our indoor slide (to develop our gross motor skills), ride on toys (to develop gross motor skills),
balls (to develop gross motor skills), kitchen toys (to develop our imagination), and building with our bumpy blocks (to learn about textures and to learn to interlock).



Special Enrichment for Friday: We played with our LeapFrog Farm animal magnet set (to learn to match an animal's front and back halves). We watched the movie Babe and learned about sheepdogs.


What We Did On Saturday: No one came to play today.
