Book of the Week: Tarzan: Hanging Out by Eric Suben


What We Did On Monday: We began our day by playing with our kitchen toys (to develop our imagination) and our Little People playsets (to develop our imaginations). Then we enjoyed Independent Reading Time (IRT) where we focused this week on reading one book at a time. After that, I introduced the BOTW and the SOTW. Later we played with our baby dolls (to learn how to be nurturing and sympathetic of the feelings of others), dress up clothes (to learn to pretend), used our indoor slide (to develop our gross motor skills), Mr. Potato Heads (to learn about body parts), and had fun with our Lights and Sounds Show toy (to learn the sounds of various instruments and to learn cause and effect).



Special Enrichment for Monday: We tasted a Strawberries and Cream Jungle Juice smoothie.We played Barrels of Monkeys and tried to see who could make the longest chain of monkeys! We also discussed what we like about monkeys.



What We Did On Tuesday: We started our day off by building with our alphabet blocks (to learn to stack) and our Lights and Sounds Show toy (to learn the sounds of various instruments and to learn cause and effect).Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on reading one book at a time.Then we sang the SOTW and read the BOTW. Later in the day, we also played with our Lincoln Logs set, toy cars (to develop fine motor skills), kitchen toys (to develop our imagination), magnets (to learn how magnets stick to metals), our Little People playsets (to develop our imaginations), and our dollhouse (to learn to match parts of a room with the room and to develop our imaginations).


Special Enrichment for Tuesday: We went to the movie theater and saw Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked which was a really funny movie. This kids really enjoyed it.


What We Did On Wednesday: No one came to play today.

What We Did On Thursday: We started our day off by playing with our electronic learning toys (to learn colors, numbers, shapes, and letters) and our kitchen toys (to develop our imagination). Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on reading one book at a time. Then we sang the SOTW and read the BOTW. Later in the day, we also played with our LeapFrog Farm animal magnet set (to learn to match an animal's front and back halves), and discussed and practiced the various sounds made by jungle animals.



Special Enrichment for Thursday: We went swimming at a pool in a friend's neighborhood and had a playdate with her 3 year old boy and 15 month old girl. We also spent time with them at th playground in their neighborhood and climbed and went down slides and just had a blast together!




What We Did On Friday: We began our day by exploring our Laugh and Learn Home (to develop our gross motor skills) and working on our jungle themed puzzles (to work on matching and one-to-one correspondence.) Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on reading one book at a time. Then we read the BOTW and sang the SOTW. After that, we built with Legos (to learn how to interlock), built with our wooden blocks (to learn to stack), built with our alphabet blocks (to learn to stack) and built with our mini waffle blocks (to learn how to interconnect). We really enjoyed building things today! We also played with our toy trains (to learn how simple machines work and how to intersect the train tracks), kitchen toys (to develop our imagination) and played with our baby dolls (to learn how to be nurturing and sympathetic of the feelings of others).




Special Enrichment for Friday: We watched the movie Tarzan 2!



What We Did On Saturday: We started our day by playing with our dress up clothes (to learn to pretend) and our baby dolls (to learn how to be nurturing and sympathetic of the feelings of others). Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on reading one book at a time. Then we sang the SOTW and read the BOTW. Later in the day, we also played with our electronic learning toys (to learn colors, numbers, shapes, and letters), kitchen toys (to develop our imagination), worked with our links (to learn to connect) and used our shape sorters (to learn to match).



Special Enrichment for Saturday: We watched the movie Elmo's World!
