Decomates Review and Giveaway (Ends 10/07/12 - Worldwide Entries!)

                                       Decomates Logo

I recently contacted Decomates and they generously agreed to send me two of their wall decals free of charge in exchange for my opinion of them in this review. They also agreed to a giveaway where a winner can also choose two free wall decals!

To begin with, I went to their website ( and began navigating my way through it to choose two wall decals. It was so hard to choose just two! There is such a wide assortment of choices, which they have nicely broken down by categories. The categories they have include - Animals, Children, Decor, Flowers, Holiday, Labels, Paintings, Scenic, Text and Other.

Well, my first decision to make was which room did I want to put a wall decal in? This decision would help me narrow down which decals to choose. I narrowed the rooms (and ideas) of my home to: kids' bedrooms (Brandon has a dragon theme, Daniella has a fairies/flowers/butterflies theme), dining room (something blue, brown, white), living room (black, something representing family/love), master bedroom (purple/something about love? Faith? Trust?) or our downstairs bathroom (lighthouses).

Okay, then from there, I started navigating the website by categories to see what I liked. Brandon's room what my first choice as the dragon theme is new and he doesn't have anything on his walls that goes with it yet. Sadly, there wasn't anything with dragons. That one got scratched from the list. Next, I looked for lighthouses. There IS one!
Reusable Decoration Wall Sticker Decal - Serene Lighthouse Sailboats
( But after reading some of the reviews on it, we decided not to do that one, as this would be our first experience using wall decals and on the the reviews said it was a bit detailed and hard to pull apart some of the small areas. It wasn't a bad review, it just made us think twice since this was our first time doing this. Scratch the downstairs bathroom of the list, too. But that is okay, it was helping me narrow down which room to use. Imagine if there was something for every room that I wanted - I would have never decided! :)

I went through the Text category to try to find something for the master bedroom. I REALLY liked this one

Reusable Decoration Wall Sticker Decal - Proverbs

But I wasn't so sure that the black would show up very well on the deep plum purple in our bedroom. I would need white most likely and couldn't find something that worked well there either. Scratch the master bedroom of the list.

Next, I looked for ideas for the living room. Since we have a wall art in there of an autumn scene, I thought I would look for something to coordinate well with that, maybe. I went to the Scenic category. Nothing there really caught my eye. Scratch the living room off the list.

Well, that left two rooms left - the dining room and Daniella's room. And the search began for them - I started with Daniella's room. At first I saw this one -
Nursery Easy Apply Wall Sticker Decorations - Reading Tree and Hearts

which I thought would look cute near her bookshelf. But it didn't really fit the general theme of room (fairies, butterflies and flowers). So I kept looking...
I considered this one -
Easy Instant Decoration Wall Sticker Decal - Dream Castle

but it seemed to princess-y for her room. But it would look really cute in a princess themed room!

I LOVED this one -
Reusable Decoration Wall Sticker Decal - Pink Floating Dandelion Seeds (Velvet with Rhinestones)
( but wasn't so sure how well it would stand out on her wall color so I passed on this one, too.

Here are some pictures of her room decor that I was looking to match this with -

A little fairy sitting in a pink flower looking at a butterfly
Pink flowers

I finally decided on this one for her room -

Reusable Decoration Wall Sticker Decal - Vivid Colorful Butterflies

Here are some pictures of them hung in her room:

They are over her toddler bed. As she grows and we convert her crib to the larger bed, I placed the butterflies so they will look like they are flying out from behind the bed. Well, at least, that was the look I was going for!

They are a bit shiny around the edges....but they are made from vinyl, so that is to be expected.

She LOVES her new butterflies!

She loves to jump on her bed and try to touch them! :)

One little monkey jumping on the bed....

They were SUPER EASY to apply. After I applied some, I decided that I wanted to move some of them around some to have them spaced out better. While they are really well adhered, they were also just as easy to un-stick as they were to  apply. And they reapplied nicely as well. It was also the perfect amount of butterflies. Any more would probably have been over-kill.

After finally making ONE choice - I realized, I still had another room to decide on! :) I knew with the dining room, I really wanted something in chocolate brown and preferably floral of some sort.
I started off looking in the Flowers category on their website. I didn't find anything I looked under Decor - and there it was - exactly what I was looking for -
Easy Instant Decoration Wall Sticker Decal - Mocha Hanging Vineyard Bloom (Velvet with Rhinestones)

I loved it! We did make the minor mistake (out of excitement and not being patient) of applying this one on a humid day. For a few days after, we had to press down some of the edges to "remind" it to stay on the wall. Nothing major and within a few short days, it was stuck for good! :) This one was a big more difficult to apply as we had to assemble it ourselves, but it turned out fine!

Here are some pictures of it hung in our dinging room! (Sorry that the picture quality isn't that great. The lighting wasn't so good at the time).

Now, this one is textured. It is a velour/velvet like feel and it has rhinestones on the droplets. It is much prettier than this pictures make it out to be! :)

Overall, we are very pleased with our new wall decals! AND they are super reasonably priced! Prices on their website are as low as $2.21! I believe the highest price is about $25. Decomates also sells wallpaper and wall clocks!

Review and Giveaway For Javita Coffee!

Shiray Raines is an independent member of Javita Coffee Co.(Contact her here. Products can be purchased through this link as well.) She was generous enough to send us out some sample packets for Javita Coffee. There were two varieties included - Burn and Control and Energy and Mind. Michael (my husband) tried these out for me as some of the ingredients are not recommended while breastfeeding or pregnant (no, I'm not pregnant, but we are trying again and didn't want to take any chances).

Here is what Shiray says about Javita:
This is a business opportunity and there is a compensation plan available. (See link above for more info.) Javita is already a global company and is really taking off in North America. Javita Coffee Co. is based out of Boca Raton, Florida. Javita launched last year and has recently joined with BMW to back their amazing compensation plan for members working it as a home based business. There are alot of exciting things to come for Javita in the years to come!

A flyer with the information regarding the compensation plan and joining Javita  as a member.

Javita has two coffees- 'Energy & Mind' which is infused with Bacopa Monnieri, Gotu Kola & Green Tea. All help to improve brain function, mental clarity, and awareness. And the newest weight loss coffee by Javita 'Burn & Control' has Yerba Mate & Garcinia Cambogia which naturally help the body more efficiently burn calories & suppress appetite.

Shiray is offering a special to my lovely readers! $45 for a 24 stick box of gourmet instant coffee (includes shipping). You will need to contact her on Facebook or through her business link. Make sure you mention Growing Up Naturally In Home Child Care for this special deal!

Michael doesn't drink a lot of coffee but when he does, it is not instant - which Javita is. Therefore, take his opinion with a grain of salt if you typically drink instant coffee :)

The first variety that Michael tried was the Burn and Control. He took the packet and mixed it with 8 ounces of hot water and added 2 tablespoons of stevia as sweetener and some whole milk. He said it was pretty smooth and while the flavor was pretty good, the aftertaste was a bit bitter and herb-y.

The second variety that Michael tried was the Energy and Mind. He took the packet and mixed it with 8 ounces of hot water and added 1 tablespoon of raw honey as sweetener and 2 ounces of whole milk. He said it was much smoother and better tasting than the Burn and Control variety and that it has a pleasant taste.

So go check out Shiray's FB page and her Javita page! Then come enter for your chance to win!

Review for Heirloom Wooden Toys

Heirloom Wooden Toys generously sent my children each an age appropriate toy of our choosing in exchange for our opinions on them. Their website was super easy to navigate. I searched by category which really helped narrow down specifically what I was looking for. Customer Service was fabulous - super fast to respond to my emails. And shipping? The box was here SO fast!

The children were so excited to receive a box of toys in the mail! We dug right in and this is what they discovered inside (Mom chose their items):

Daniella received Melissa and Doug High Sea Symphony musical instruments.
Brandon received Gobblet! which is a game.

Daniella had just woken up from her nap when we opened the box (and I am sure by her wild hair in the next few pictures, you can tell!). Here are the Melissa and Doug instruments -
Seahorse maraca

Crab jingle bells

Clam Clackers

Octopus tambourine

Clam Clackers
Daniella really loved playing with her new instruments! She is very into music right now so I figured this would be a hit with her!
She enjoys lining the instruments up to go "night-night".

Up close picture of the seahorse maraca

Up close picture of the clam clackers

Up close picture of the clam clackers while open

Up close picture of the octopus tambourine

Up close picture of the crab jingle bells

All lined up!

Daniella is doing a marching band parade!

Daniella noticed this inside of the tambourine looked like "money"!

She loves to shake the "blells" (as she calls them!)

She is learning open vs. close!

Putting the clackers "night-night".

Shaking the tambourine!

Daniella is absolutely in love with her new instruments. I love how much she is learning with them! She can identify all four ocean animals and their colors. They are a great price at only $19.99! See them here.

For Brandon, I chose the game Gobblet. At age 10, he was a little bit more difficult to find something for but there were still plenty of choices! See Gobblet here. A great game at a great price - $26.99!

Everything is stored inside the game board!

The lid of the box is the game board! (There ARE three of the white pieces as well, Daniella was playing with them when I took this picture!)

Gobblet came sealed in a plastic wrap with many stickers on it showing just what a wonderful game it is! "OVER 1,000,000 SOLD! MULTIPLE AWARD WINNING GAME!"

Brandon and Michael (my husband) enjoyed playing together.

The winning move! Brandon won!

This is what Brandon has to say about Gobblet: "Gobblet is a very fun game. I liked playing it and on my first game - I won! It is kind of like Connect 4 and Checkers."

The object of the game is to get 4 of your colored pieces (either black or white) in a row while using your pieces to "Gobble" up your opponents. Each player has 12 pieces. 4 pieces each of 4 different sizes. The pieces get progressively bigger and fit over one another, similiar in fashion to nesting dolls.

Notice that Daniella had to be involved, too, right? Do you see what she is doing while they are playing?  She, too, discovered that they are like nesting dolls -

So even though Gobblet is labeled as being a game for ages 7+, Daniella found her own way to play along! And I used it as an opportunity to discuss little, big, bigger and biggest!

Overall, I cannot say enough good things about either one of these toys. I highly doubt that if your were to purchase them, you would be disappointed! My kids have been thrilled with them!
