Parents - Newsletter Week of November 5th


Just a reminder that all activities are based on the number of children present each day, ages of the children present, and mood of the children.

What We Did On Monday: We began our day by playing with our wooden farm playset (to learn about the various farm animals, sounds that they make and how a farm works) and our toy animals (to learn the names of, sounds made by and to develop our imaginations). Then we enjoyed Independent Reading Time (IRT) where we focused this week turning the pages of our books gently to not rip them. After that, I introduced the BOTW and the SOTW. Later we played with our baby dolls (to learn how to be nurturing and sympathetic of the feelings of others), pretended to bake wooden cookies in our wooden kitchen center (to develop our imagination), and used our wooden shape sorters (to learn to match).


Special Enrichment for Monday: We watched the movie Blue's Clues: Blue's Cafe to learn about eating in a restaurant!

What We Did On Tuesday: We started our day off by getting creative with our Mr. Potato Heads (to learn about body parts) and playing with our wooden farm playset (to learn about the various farm animals, sounds that they make and how a farm works). Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on turning the pages of our books gently to not rip them.Then we sang the SOTW and read the BOTW. Later in the day, we also played with our wooden sandwich building set (to develop our imagination), built with our bristle blocks (to learn to interconnect) and worked on our wooden puzzles (to develop basic math skills and matching).


Special Enrichment for Tuesday:  We watched the movie A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving to begin learning about the Thanksgiving holiday. The big kids who were here because of being out of school for Election Day
enjoyed playing The Game of Life and Uno Attack.


What We Did On Wednesday: We began our day by playing with our wooden farm playset (to learn about the various farm animals, sounds that they make and how a farm works) and pretending to cook for each other with our kitchen toys (to develop our imagination). Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on turning the pages of our books gently to not rip them. Then we read the BOTW and sang the SOTW. After that, we enjoyed playing with our LeapFrog farm animal magnet set (to learn to match an animal's front and back halves), built with Legos (to learn how to interlock), had fun with our Lights and Sounds Show toy (to learn the sounds of various instruments and to learn cause and effect) and listening to our Barney's Favorites CD (to develop a love for singing along).

Special Enrichment for Wednesday: We talked about our favorite foods to eat! We also worked on the self help skill of table manners. And we enjoyed coloring pictures of food.

What We Did On Thursday: We started our day off by building with our Duplo blocks (to develop fine motor skills) and pretending to cook for each other with our kitchen toys (to develop our imagination). Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on turning the pages of our books gently to not rip them.Then we sang the SOTW and read the BOTW. Later in the day, we also played with our Batter's Up baseball toy (to try to learn how to hit a baseball with a baseball bat), practiced driving our toy cars all around (to develop fine motor skills), our wooden farm playset (to learn about the various farm animals, sounds that they make and how a farm works), and used our indoor slide (to develop our gross motor skills).


Special Enrichment for Thursday: We watched the movie Pocahontas to learn about Native Americans and how the Europeans made their way to America. We also talked about how turkeys say GOBBLE!

What We Did On Friday: We began our day by playing with our Bop It Penguin (to learn cause and effect) and pretending to bake wooden cookies in our wooden kitchen center (to develop our imagination). Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on turning the pages of our books gently to not rip them. Then we read the BOTW and sang the SOTW. After that, we enjoyed playing our wooden musical instruments (to learn about the sounds of and parts of various instruments), explored our Laugh and Learn Home (to develop our gross motor skills), played with our LeapFrog farm animal magnet set (to learn to match an animal's front and back halves), our baby dolls (to learn how to be nurturing and sympathetic of the feelings of others), our wooden farm playset (to learn about the various farm animals, sounds that they make and how a farm works), had fun with our dress up clothes (to learn to pretend) and built with our mini waffle blocks (to learn how to interconnect).

Special Enrichment for Friday: We watched the movie Blue's Clues: Blue's Cafe to learn about eating in a restaurant!

What We Did On Saturday: We started our day by having fun practicing throwing, rolling and bouncing our balls (to develop gross motor skills) and working with our electronic learning toys (to learn colors, numbers, shapes, and letters). Then we enjoyed IRT where we focused this week on turning the pages of our books gently to not rip them. Then we sang the SOTW and read the BOTW. Later in the day, we also played with baby dolls (to learn how to be nurturing and sympathetic of the feelings of others), our toy animals (to learn the names of, sounds made by and to develop our imaginations), our wooden farm playset (to learn about the various farm animals, sounds that they make and how a farm works), explored our Laugh and Learn Home (to develop our gross motor skills) and practiced driving our toy cars all around (to develop fine motor skills).


Special Enrichment for Saturday: We talked about leaves and turkeys that say gobble, gobble!
