Review for Just Natural Organic Care

I was very pleased when Just Natural Organic Care agreed to do a review with me. I have been looking for a hair detangler that is naturally based and all I can find in the stores near my home are ones that have way to much crappy ingredients in them. Not so with Just Natural Organic Care!

This is their Daily Spray Detangler. Here is what their website says about it:
"Combing so easy without breakage or a chemical residue.

Formulated with Hibiscus Flower Extract and Babassu to help
reduce frizz, add shine, detangle and help silken hair.

It moisturizes dry brittle hair with deep penetrating Olive and
Chamomile Roman softens, detangles, and adds strength that
protects hair from damage.

Restores moisture and lubricates, giving hair softness,
detangling and conditioning. Helps stops shedding, minimizes
dryness and protects from daily heat styling damage."

I especially love that it is:
Gluten Free
Natural & Organic
No Chemicals
No Alcohol
No Harsh Detergents
Sulfate Free
Paraben Free
Cruelty Free
Made in the USA

Let me show you how long and thick my hair is:

I have a hard time with getting tangles in my hair. Here is my new line of defense:

I have found that using a wide tooth comb that is geared for thick hair makes a big difference! Now with adding in the detangler it is SO much easier to comb to my thick hair! Both of my kids have my unfortunate thick hair and Daniella HATES with a passion to have me comb her hair. It is literally a daily battle. Since we have had the detangler, it is still a battle, but at least it is a short one! The detangler has made it MUCH easier to comb her hair. I also truly LOVE the scent it leaves behind. Since I have stopped using traditional shampoo and conditioner in lieu of doing no 'poo (baking soda and apple cider vinegar), I have missed that pretty smelling hair feeling you have when you lay down to go to sleep at night. The detangler has brought that back for me! :) (It's the little things in life, right?)

The ingredient list is great! I cannot say enough good things about it.

In fact, my favorite feature is the lock button on the trigger!!

This keeps Daniella from randomly spraying the room with it! :)

Just Natural Organic Care has something to meet all of your needs -

Dry Hair
Extreme Dry Hair
Frizz Hair
Grow New Hair
Hair Loss
Itchy Scalp
Oily Hair
Relaxed Hair
Scalp Problems
Thicker Hair
Thin Hair
African American Hair

PLUS, they have so much more than just hair care items.

They also threw in a bar of soap for me to try. Unfortunately, I am allergic to mango and it contains mango extract and mango butter. You don't want to see what happened to my lip after sniffing the bar before I realized this :( The bar is called "Paradise" and it sure smells divine! Because of my allergy though, my husband has had to try it out. He says that it lathers nicely and leaves a pleasant scent behind while softening his hands. I have never known of an all natural soap to smell this nice. Most are only lightly scented. This can be smelled several feet away! I love the scent!

Review with Giveaway for Mummie's Nummies Breastfeeding Journey! (US Only, Ends 04/07/13)

So I have this lovely blogger friend named Jacky, who runs a breastfeeding support blog named Mummie's Nummies.  I was so excited when Jacky wrote a book called Mummie's Nummies Breastfeeding Journey. It is a book full of a poem she wrote and LOTS of mummies breastfeeding their little ones! I was even more excited when she agreed to let me review one and share her book with all of you!

Here is a the About Us part of Jacky's blog where you can go to read more about Mummie's Nummies, how it started, why she started it and what all she does on her blog. Breastfeeding Journey is the love child of Mummie's Nummies! Breastfeeding Journey would not have been created if Mummie's Nummies was never started.

Jacky sent me this little gift pack which included the book, a card that features her most recent Nummie Lover and a little card that has the breastfeeding symbol on it and says "I am a Nummie Maker".

I read this book and I literally cried - it was SUCH a touching poem. It is super sweet. I have breastfed two children - my son until 20 months old and my daughter who is 2 years and 5 months old is currently breastfeeding. To see all of the beautiful photos included and to read about the many ups and downs of breastfeeding (most of which I, too, have experienced) was spectacular. I cannot emphasize enough what a fantastic book this is. This would make a GREAT baby shower gift, particularly for either a first time mom or a mom with a large age gap between her kids.

The dedication was totally Jacky :) -

There is even a page at the end of the book to include YOUR OWN breastfeeding journey picture! What a great addition!

Jacky was sweet enough to sign my book for me!

You can purchase Mummie's Nummies Breastfeeding Journey on Amazon for $10.99!

Here is Jacky's summary of what her book is about:
"Breastfeeding Journey is a 24 page book that is filled with personal photos from Mummies and their Nummie Lovers, ranging from newborns to toddlers. Each photo is from some of my readers and myself. Capturing their own individual journeys and rocking it the best way they know how. The 8x10 paperback book has captivating photos that shows the silly, the heart warming, the struggles and the quiet moments each Nummie Lover shares with their Mummie. Combine the original poem that captions each photo and you have an amazing book that celebrates moments that will end all too quickly. There is even a spot, in the back of Breastfeeding Journey, that allows the owner to add their favorite photo, honoring their breastfeeding journey."

Review with Giveaway for Fifi Ruffles (US Only, Ends 04/07/13)

Every time I go to look at Fifi Ruffle's Facebook page (You can also check out Fifi Ruffle's website, but it is under construction right now or find her on Twitter - @FiFiRuffles), I literally fall in love with something else. So I was super excited when she agreed to do a review with me!

This is called her Petal dress and it is even more adorable than the pictures show!! It is made with Kona cotton which is of high quality. Now, she did warn me that it wrinkles easily but she did tell me that some starch would help - and it did! :)

I LOVE this dress!
View of the back which was slightly harder to dewrinkle!

The dress is slightly too big in the strap area but I think I can tighten it and it will fit a bit better

Tah-dah! :)

I plan to use this dress for Daniella to wear for Easter. We always visit my sister-in-law and brother-in-law for Easter and they live in Florida near Orlando so it gets plenty hot there! I think this dress will keep her nice and cool since it is mostly white!

I love the overall look of the dress and how more floral material is used for the leaves. I like that I can adjust the straps to get just the right fit. I LOVE the petal around her face - such a great way to highlight her adorable face! You can tell that this dress was well made. Even after washing it twice, I can see that all of the stitching will hold up especially well. The fabric is a great quality.

Here is some more info about the fabric from Fifi Ruffles  - "Fabric is designed by illustrator Sara Jane. I am absolutely in LOVE with her fabric, prints, paper dolls etc! I plan to carry her prints and jewelry in my store soon. I have been approved to do so ;) Here is a link about her...
Why do I love???? Although I love the applique and other children's fabric out there, Sara's is a simple, non-cartoon-y, classic and refreshing way to express childhood...I don't know, I just gush over her stuff!! It's timeless!"

I agree - I have been gushing over this dress since it arrived in my mailbox!

Another note from Fifi Ruffles - "Here is a link about me that was written a couple months ago. Some details are WRONG but it gives a good gist. My biz has been only open since 5/5. I am still struggling very hard to meet expenses. I don't mind sharing this info, after all I hear it is very common in the first couple years. My store is located on the edge of a not so desirable neighborhood, so I don't get a lot of foot traffic. I have to earn each and every sale."

One last note from Fifi Ruffles - "One last thing. My main focus now is handmade. I am dabbling with organic cottons as well. My store is now 30% handmade by moi and locals ;)" - I am so excited to hear that she is beginning to incorporate organic fabrics!

Fifi Ruffles has been kind enough to extend a 10% discount to all of you only for March and April in her ESTY store. Use code "GROWING" at checkout! Don't forget to check out her blog, too -

Review with Giveaway for Montessori Services/For Small Hands (US/Canada Only, Ends 03/31/13)

These two wonderful companies are one and the same. They have some fabulous resources for parents, homeschoolers, and teachers! I was very excited to review their The Red Letter Alphabet Book (RV $20).

Front of book

Back of book

This book is a great resource to use when helping your child learn to identify letters and letter sounds. I think that the part that I loved the most about this book is that it utilizes LOWERCASE letters! So many books and toys out there emphasize UPPERCASE letters that many child do not learn their lowercase letters until well beyond they have conquered their uppercase letters.

The part that I love the second most is that the book does not simply focus on what words begin with each letter of the alphabet. The also show pictures with words that have the letter as a middle sound or an end sound. It is just as important for children who are learning to read to identify the sound within the word!

My third favorite feature is that the main letters throughout the book are textured to encourage children to trace them with their finger to learn how to write their letters!

And my last favorite feature is that at the end of the book, they have included a list of activities for you to do with your child using the book!

I think this book has been a great learning tool for my two year old daughter. Yes, she is only two, but she is advanced. She can already identify all of her capital letters which is why this book has been so helpful. In the short time we have had this book, she can now identify 20 of the 26 lowercase letters! She started off calling letter "l" an "I" or a "1" but soon learned that is was an "l". Letters such as "c", "v", "x" and "k" that look a lot like their capital counterpart were easy to pick up on, of course!

The only issue that we have had with the book has been the unique binding. Thankfully, this only happened once and was a fairly easy fix although I had to be very meticulous.

Otherwise, I cannot say enough good things about this book.

You really should check out these websites to see what all they have.
At, you can find child sized kitchen items, child sized cleaning tools, child sized gardening tools, and so much more!

Check out for manipulative activities, practical life books & cards,  geography and culture learning items, and tons more!

Throughout the month of March, they have Free Shipping on orders of $50 or more!

And then, go check out this fantastic giveaway for a $50 gift certificate that you can use on both websites!

Update on How Homeschooling is Going - Days 1 and 2

So far, my general schedule that I posted has not been followed so well. Well, I take that back. The guidelines and parameters of it as in the flow of Brandon's day has generally followed it but NOT the times listed :) Yesterday was his first full day of homeschooling and he LOVED it. He liked being able to independently do his work, work at his own pace and he really loves the curriculum that I selected.

Today, we went on a field trip to the library with a homeschooling family we are friends with and that threw off our whole morning. We also dropped by his olld school to pick up some things that we didn't have access to on Friday when I withdrew him plus he dropped off a bag of Box Tops for Education, Campbell's Labels for Education and Tyson Labels as well. (We plan to continue clipping these and drop them off to his old school every so often to continue to help support them!). So he did his school work while Daniella and I napped (her whole schedule has been thrown a loop with the time change so I haven't been able to sleep well either. But that nap was super refreshing.) He loves to work on Khan Academy for his math and he has dabbled some with their Computer Science section as well.

He has worked with the PE book that I made both days and so far that has gone really well. He really likes to move and it breaks up his day from mostly sitting in the front of the computer. Plus, exercise is a good thing! :) He likes that each day so far has been different enough that he won't get bored from doing the same things over and over.

He really likes the supplemental activities I have given his to to as a wrap up to his day. Yesterday he practiced his Spanish vocabulary words by using them in sentences and today he practiced drawing a car (one of his current interests is to better his drawing skills). He likes that he is still learning something but that it is more fun and less work plus it is a good way to bring his heart rate back down right after PE.

It has been odd not to jump up early in the morning, see him dressed in his school uniform and be ready to leave for carpool to head of to school. We went grocery shopping in the early hours of the morning and the cashier actually asked, "Is he homeschooled?" And she was really excited to learn that we had just started. We have a GREAT homeschooling accepting community around us! :)

So, that is it for now. I hope that by the end of the week we can learn how to better manage time and stay within the schedule a bit more. I don't expect perfection quite yet :)

Review for TruBaby 2-in-1 Baby Body & Hair Wash

WE LOVE TRUBABY/TRUKID. I cannot say this enough. I have previously done a review for some Trukid products (Review post for Trukid lotion and sunscreen) and we truly love them all!

A couple of weeks ago, Daniella had a tummy bug of some sort for almost a week. Imagine all of the vomiting. Okay, I'm sure you don't want to but as fellow moms, I am sure you can empathize. One thing that Daniella enjoyed doing while "expressing her health" (as our chiropractor likes to say) was taking a shower with Mommy. It was during the first of one of many of these showers that I first introduced her to the TruBaby 2-in-1 Baby Body & Hair Wash.

The scent is very calming and soothing (and made from essential oils!). It is a light citrus scent that I absolutely LOVE. Daniella immediately responded to it. She and her miserable self melted into my arms in the shower and she FELL ASLEEP! :) She loved it and it had a great calming effect. From then on, all week long, whenever she requested to take a shower with me she explicitly requested her "new bubbles".

I love the TruBaby 2-in-1 Baby Body & Hair Wash not just for the reasons that Daniella did, but for reasons that Moms do too! It is paraben free, phthalate free, bpa free, biodegradable, and made of wholesome ingredients with no harsh chemicals!
Purified water, aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice, sodium laurylglucosides hydroxypropyl sulfonate (sugar), sodium cocoyl methyl taurate (coconut), oleyl betaine (palm), decyl glucoside (plant), glycerin (vegetable), glycine soja (soy) protein, citric acid (citrus), soyamidopropalkonium chloride (soy), guar hydroxypropyl trimonium chloride (guar bean), pathenol (pro-vitamin B5), sodium benzoate (salt of benzoic acid), ethylhexylglycerin (vegetable), citrus grandis (grapefruit) peel oil, citrus junos (yuzu), citrus aurantifolia dulcis (sweet orange) oil

All Organic Ingredients in this product are listed in BOLD.
