Have Fun With Words by Playing Wordical from Educational Insights! Review with Giveaway (US or Canada, Ends 09/02/13)

Disclosure: We received this game for free in exchange for our honest opinion about it.

Wordical is a hilariously fun, slap it down, fast paced game by Educational Insights. We recently had the excitement of playing with a large group when we visited family in Florida. To me, the more players, the better the game was! We played with 6 players that day.

Wordical™
The radical dice-rolling, word-building race! Roll the vowel dice and combine the letters with the consonant cards in your hand—build the highest-scoring word and you win the round! 2–8 players. For ages 8 to adult. SRP: $12.99. Available at www.amazon.com
How to Play:
1. Deal each player 5 consonant cards.
2. Take turns rolling 2 vowel dice.
3. All players race to build the highest-scoring word they can, using as many letters from their cards and the dice as possible
4. Tally up the points, deal new cards, and roll again!

The basic idea behind the game is to make words using the consonant cards and the vowel dice. The fastest player (the person who gets the first word in a given round) gets bonus points for being fast!. If you are the last one in a given round to come up with a word, you only get 1 point instead of the value of your word.

The object of the game is to get the most points by the time the deck runs out.

Our games that day (we played twice, once with six players, once with five players) were very fast paced. Obviously, the more players you have, the faster you will go through the deck. Michael and I personally play a lot of word game apps so we tended to get the highest points for our words, but we were not always the one to receive bonus points for being first. So it keeps you fairly even against your fellow players. Brandon liked the game a lot and constantly asks to play. I like that it is helping him to think strategically, think up "better" (higher point) words, and overall build his vocabulary! It is a great way to work on language arts and spelling without feeling like we are doing boring schoolwork! We like to keep homeschooling FUN!
