Brandon chose to learn about the USA for part of his social studies/history/geography this year. We decided to begin with a 50 states studies that started with learning the placement of the 50 states on the map and their respective capitals. For there, he would journey into learning some fun facts about each individual state. To help him with this, I also started a Pinterest board dedicated to Fifty States Studies content. Feel free to check it out!

Little Passports offers two subscription packages: the World Edition and the USA Edition.

World Edition

Every month, follow our characters Sam and Sofia as they embark on a new country adventure. Your first month’s Explorer Kit arrives in a suitcase and contains everything your child needs to get started: a letter from Sam and Sofia, a map, a passport, stickers, access to online games and more. Country specific packages filled with fun souvenirs, letters, stickers, photos, activity sheets and more arrive every month thereafter.

Recommended age 5 to 10 years old.

USA Edition

With your USA Edition subscription, Sam and Sofia travel to and experience the wonders of all 50 states. Kick-off your USA adventure with the first month’s Discovery Kit which includes a letter from Sam and Sofia, a USA Field Guide, a USA scratch book, a map, and a camera. Sam and Sofia then travel to two new states every month and send an activity-packed travel journal with stickers, postcards, pop-out models and access to online activities.

Recommended age 7 to 12 years old.

Brandon received the first month's Discovery Kit for the USA Edition. He has enjoyed using the map to find the states he is learning about. The camera came with a list of things that is recommended that you take pictures of such as a self portrait, a cool building, best buddies, a cool object and a tasty food. Brandon has had fun trying to find all of them to check them off the list.

The USA scratch book is Brandon's favorite part. He loves scratching away with the included tool to make pictures and trace items.

The field guide has some interesting items inside to learn about the 50 states. It lists the states and capitals, asks you questions about where important landmarks are, there are pages for you to fill in about yourself and more!

The plastic snap envelope holds everything inside.

Brandon is 11, he will be 12 in February. While we have really enjoyed using the Discovery Kit, it does feel slightly beneath his level. That may change though if we continued to receive the monthly packages that included more specific information to the sets of two states per month. Those may be more towards his level of learning.

Overall, I think that this monthly subscription is just the thing to add to your homeschool resources! The kids love to get the monthly mail - and it encourages learning! What more could you ask for?
