Jack Templar and the Lord of the Vampires (Book 3 in the Templar Chronicles Children's Book Series),Review with Giveaway, Ends 12/28/13, Worldwide Availability With Limits (See Post For Details)

Disclosure: We received a free paperback copy of  Jack Templar and the Lord of the Vampires in exchange for our honest opinion about it.

I first introduced you to Jack Templar, Monster Hunter (Book 1 in the Templar Chronicles children's book series) back in January 2013. I also reviewed Jack Templar and the Monster Academy (Book 2 in the Templar Chronicles children's book series) in the summer of 2013. We were lucky enough to receive Jack Templar and the Lord of the Vampires (Book 3 in the Templar Chronicles children's book series) recently.

As I have mentioned in both previous reviews, I read every book that my children are sent to review so that you can have a child's perspective of the book and an adult's perspective of the book. I think it is important to see children's books from the parent's point of view as well.

Each Jack Templar book has literally gotten bigger and better than the one before. Book 1 is 181 pages, Book 2 is 313 pages and Book 3 is 341 pages. I am seriously impressed with Jeff Gunhus's ability to write and publish THREE books in LESS THAN A YEAR! Each book shows how his writing skills improve as he brings more detail to the reader's mind.

This book series is about the supernatural (all of those creatures that go bump in the night). In Jack Templar and the Lord of the Vampires, this becomes the most apparent thus far. While the topic doesn't super excite me personally and I am not in love with the idea of my son reading this topic, I also try very hard to not limit his reading choices. Boys, though not mine, have a greater likelihood of being reluctant readers and this topic is just the right thing to make them want to read. The Templar Chronicles is specifically geared towards children in the third through sixth grade, in my opinion. But I enjoyed reading them, too!

Jack Templar and the Lord of the Vampires is an action packed book with a new twist or turn on almost every page! Practically nothing ends the way you think it would. Just when you think you have it figured out, it twists again! Even though the topic doesn't super excite me, this book kept me spell bound at times, just waiting to see what happened next. The details in the descriptions were amazing. I really felt like I, too, was at Notre Dame with Jack.

After fighting a goblin army, befriending an ancient werewolf, and battling two fire breathing dragons during his adventures at the Monster Hunter Academy, Jack Templar hoped for a rest. No such luck.

In this third adventure of the Jack Templar Monster Hunter series, Jack embarks on a quest to track down and acquire the first of five mythical Jerusalem Stones, an ancient power source found by his ancestors, the Templar Knights. Only the reunited Stones can stop Ren Lucre, the Dark Lord who holds Jack’s father hostage and prepares for an all-out war against an unsuspecting human world.

A different Creach Lord holds each Stone, and recovering them will not be easy. Jack and his friends begin their quest by seeking out a powerful and terrifying adversary, the Lord of the Vampires. The fate of the world rests on Jack’s shoulders and he will be tested like never before.

Join Jack Templar on his most dangerous journey yet, but remember that doing so makes you part of his world. Read this book only if you are prepared to battle the Creach and live by the monster hunter motto. Because to survive, you must...
Do your duty, come what may!

Here's what Brandon (age 11) had to say about Jack Templar and the Lord of the Vampires:
Jack Templar and the Lord of the Vampires is a really awesome book. In fact, the entire Jack Templar series is my favorite book series. I am always very happy when another book comes out in the series. There are lots of different surprises in the book. But remember, BEWARE! There are vampires around every corner. And most importantly, remember to lock your windows and bolt your doors. DO YOUR DUTY, COME WHAT MAY!

New to the Templar Chronicles? Lucky you because Book #1 of the series will be $.99 over the holidays! What a perfect time to begin reading the series! Pairing Book #1 with the audio book  is a great strategy to get kids reading. (A new audio book of Jack Templar Monster Hunter (Book#1) will be available on on December 15th.)
