Safe Stainless Steel Bottles for Infants, Children, and Adults from Pura! (Review with Giveaway, Ends 02/16/14, US Only)

Disclosure: We received a free water bottle, sipper attachment, bottle ring, and lids set in exchange for our honest opinion about it.

In conjunction with my second Blogiversary celebration, Pura Stainless Steel Water Bottles has generously offered a giveaway for a Pura Kiki bottle of the winners choice (color dependent on availability) + a 0.6L adult bottle for mom (color based on availability). (Total RV $31.98)

Let me tell you about what Pura gave us to review!
This is the Pura Kiki® 11oz Toddler Bottle in lavender.  Currently available in five more colors!

Kiki stainless steel bottles are the safe and environmentally conscious choice for your toddler. Unlike all other toddler bottles on the market, the Kiki toddler bottle is 100% plastic free eliminating any chance of BPA, PVC, lead, phthalates, and other petroleum by-products.

Like all products in the Kiki line, the toddler bottle is compatible with a wide range of nipples and spouts and is dishwasher safe! Kiki is backed by an unprecedented lifetime warranty.

The travel cover, spout and lids are all made from silicone. I love that this bottle is completely plastic free!
It has a great wide opening to make it easy to clean.
Plus, there is internal volume markers.

I do like that you can change out the sipper spout for a bottle nipple and use it as a baby bottle. So it can grow with your baby... bottle, sipper, then as they get older, remove the spout and use it as a snack cup!

These bottles would be convenient to use with your breast pump to store pumped milk in!

The sealing disks really do seal!! There's no leaking when you use these.
This water bottle is Daniella's new favorite! This bottle goes everywhere with her. I love how well it stays sealed. We have never had a leakage problem. She loves that it makes her feel big like Mama to have her own water bottle.
I also love that it is FREE of a ton of common chemicals regularly found in drinking cups and bottles. This makes me feel good about letting Daniella use it almost every day! Not to mention that's it's the perfect size for her.
It is the only bottle IN THE WORLD with NO plastic components. It's such a universal product that I recommend them to everyone who notices Daniella's and now I am recommending them to you!
Here's what Pura especially wants you to know!
Pura's proprietary products include the first and only 100% plastic-free bottle on the global market as well as the first modular bottle and collar designed to adapt to, and grow with, the child.  Recent studies have shown that all plastic (including BPA-free plastic leaches toxins that are harmful to infants and toddlers.  Our multiple patented design is proven to be the safest and most adaptable bottle on the market today.Other innovations include the first leak resistant silicone nipple/spout cover, a full line of breast feeding friendly Natural Vent Nipples(TM), an innovative 100% plastice free sip spout, and a line of silicone sleeves.  In early 2014 Pura will also launch a line of insulated Kiki bottles and an innovative plastic-free straw lid (the first plastic free straw module on the market).

bumGenius Organic Cotton Cloth Diapering with Cotton Babies (Review with Giveaway, Ends 02/16/14, Contiguous US Only)

Disclosure: We received a free bumGenius cloth diaper in exchange for our honest opinion about it.

In conjunction with my second Blogiversary celebration, Cotton Babies has generously provided a bumGenius "Mirror" elemental organic cotton all in one, one size, cloth diaper (RV $24.95).

Let me tell you about the cloth diaper that Cotton Babies sent us for this review. We received it towards the tail end of Daniella becoming potty trained. We primarily used it for overnight diapering. We never had any leaks. It fit Daniella very well.
After specifying that we preferred gender neutral diaper prints, we were excited to receive the Albert print of Cotton Babies' bumGenius Elemental One-Size Cloth Diaper. This print is adorable !
A lot of gender neutral prints that we already had are just solid colors so I was excited to have a patterned one.

I love that it is made of organic cotton!

It is very roomy. It has lots of space and is a snap closure. I love that you can add extra inserts if needed!

Look at how much absorbency it provides...but it isn't a super thick diaper that barely snaps closed in order to provide that much absorbency.

I love how all of the inserts work so well together.

Isn't the print really cute? Think Albert Einstein!

Cotton Babies even provided me with enough detergent to do the initial washing to prep the diaper!
IMPORTANT: Prewash dark color diapers six times separately before washing with other diapers.
Before First Use: Wash hot (100F/40C) 3-5 times for maximum absorbency.
Use: Do not use rash creams.
Dirty Storage: Store in dry pail/bin.
Wash: Wash darks separately. Pre-wash cold. Wash hot (140F/60C) with bumGenius detergent. Extra rinse. No laundry additives. Tumble dry - low. No fabric softeners. Use 1/4 cup or 60 mL bleach in the hot wash once per month.

Here's my Cotton Babies bumGenius diaper in the washer!

The bumGenius detergent worked fantastically!
Check out these great features of the bumGenius elemental organic cotton cloth diaper-
6 layers of super absorbent, certified organic cotton
Better design means fewer leaks and an ultra-trim fit
                                        Generous sizing accommodates more babies
Easily tuck any insert inside diaper for custom absorbency
                                        Durable snap closures
3x3 snap down design* adjusts the sizing to small, medium and large size
                                        Fit approximately 8-35 lbs.
Trim, snug and comfortable stretchy tabs gently flex around your baby
Exclusively made in the United States
We tried many kinds of cloth diapers before Daniella was potty trained. We primarily used pockets and covers with inserts. I have to say that I really liked not having to stuff this diaper and knowing it would still be absorbent enough without being extra bulky.

Nate Rocks the School, Volume 3 of the Nate Rocks Series by Karen Pokras Toz (Review with Giveaway, Ends 02/16/14, Worldwide)

Disclosure: We received a free copy of the book in exchange for our honest opinion about it.

In conjunction with my second Blogiversary celebration, Karen Pokras Toz is giving away an e-copy of Nate Rocks the School (Nate Volume 3). While this is the 3rd book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone book. (RV $2.99)

Let me tell you about this book -

Nate Rocks Is At It Again . . .
According to Nathan Rockledge, fifth grade has plenty of perks. Oh sure, there’s more work and that know-it-all, Lisa Crane, is still around – but, there’s a lot to look forward to as well: a laser tag birthday party, baseball at recess, and even a cool Halloween dance. Of course, all of that means nothing without the biggest perk of all . . . the class trip to New York City in the spring. If Nathan’s class can raise enough money to go, that is.
Give Nathan paper and a pencil and watch as his imagination turns him into Nate Rocks, hero and fifth grade super star. With adventures abound, Nate saves the day time and again. But will Nate be able to save the fifth grade trip?
Join Nathan, his hilarious family, and his friends, as he rocks the school in another fun Nate Rocks adventure.
Brandon always gets excited when he gets a new book.

He especially gets excited when it's signed by the author!

Brandon absolutely love the Nate Rocks series! Nate Rocks the School, Volume 3, was no different!
Here's what Brandon has to say about Nate Rocks the School-
What I like about Nate Rocks the School is that Nathan has all these cool adventures in his imagination. He draws pictures when he's thinking about it without even thinking about it.
Nathan has a laser tag party, but his mom doesn't know that it involves a laser gun; she doesn't like weapons. Nathan told her that the guns were like laser flashlights.
Nathan and his class want to go to New York City for a field trip. But, the thing is, they don't have enough money. So they had a fundraiser Halloween dance. Nathan's mom made some snacks for it. The problem is, she's a horrible cook! Her snacks didn't sell very well...
I didn't dislike any part of the book. As I was reading it, I was also laughing because when Nate is in his daydreams and he snaps out of it, he's just like, "What happened? Oh, yeah." Ha ha ha!
Stay tuned for Nate Rocks the City,  the final book in the series, due to be released in February 2014!  Nate Rocks the City is already on Goodreads, so add it to your Want to Read bookshelf!
All of the Nate Rocks books are also now available on audio!
Here's what I like about the book (Yes, I read it, too!) -

This is a great book for a child who has a wild imagination. I love how Nate uses his imagination to help him solve problems. I think this whole series is fantastic and can't wait to read the last Nate book!

Adorable Kids Clothes, Accessories, and Tote Bags by Oh, Sew Sweet Designs (Review with Giveaway, Ends 02/14/14, US Only, Worldwide if winner pays shipping)

Disclosure: We received two free children's tote bags in exchange for our honest opinion about them.

In conjunction with my second Blogiversary celebration  Oh, Sew Sweet Designs has generously offered a giveaway for a Dr Seuss crayon tote bag for a winner residing in the US or outside of the US if the winner pays all shipping costs.

Let me tell you about what Oh, Sew Sweet Designs sent us to review. When we were planning this event, it was August, so we decided on Halloween treat bags/tote bags.
The green bag with the black cats was made for Daniella. The grey bag with the candy corn pieces was made for Brandon. Oh, Sew Sweet Designs gave me choices on which fabrics I wanted from a selection she had on hand. Want to know what the best part is? They are reversible!
This is the opposite sides of each bag. I was also able to select these fabrics. I really liked the selection that Oh, Sew Sweet Designs had available for two particular reasons -
1. I was able to pick two fabrics for each child that coordinated well.
2. I was able to have one of the fabrics for each child's tote bag not be specific to Halloween so that the bags can be used year round.

Each bag had an adorable tag on one side only of the bag identifying that it was made by Oh, Sew Sweet Designs.

The children have enjoyed using their bags in various ways. Brandon has primarily used his bag for trips to the library to gather new and exciting books and movies for homeschooling. Daniella uses hers to bring small quiet activities into church or restaurants. She also enjoys using it for dress up play.

Here they are using their tote bags for treat or treating!

The only VERY MINOR issue we had with the bags was that Daniella's handles no longer lay very flat. This is not a big deal to us and it is most likely due to her carrying it around so much because she absolutely adores having a tote bag that is just her size. She has dragged it on the ground and hasn't gotten any tears in it. The bags are very sturdy and well made!
Oh, Sew Sweet Designs will be releasing their new spring and Valentine's Day items in January! I have already seen some displayed on their Facebook page!!! They are way too cute! You have got to go check them out (Yes, I am gushing a little!!).
Oh, Sew Sweet Designs wants you to know that their Tote Bags are great to use for books, crayon and coloring books, kids tablet and game storage, etc. The uses are endless and they are fully lined and reversible! :)
Oh, Sew Sweet Designs is offering you free shipping on your orders from now through February 15th.

Fight Magnesium Deficiency with Ancient Minerals (Review with Giveaway, Ends 02/13/14, US Only)

Disclosure: We received free magnesium products in exchange for our honest opinion about them.

In conjunction with my second Blogiversary celebration, Ancient Minerals has generously offered a giveaway for one winner to receive an Ancient Minerals Magnesium Bath Flakes - 1.65lb
(RV $9.75) plus an Ancient Minerals Magnesium Oil - 8oz (RV $29).

We received the exact items linked above for us to review. Before I tell you what we thought about them, I want to start by mentioning a few things about magnesium deficiency.
Notice the list of symptoms of magnesium deficiency? Who would want to perpetually feel that way? Not me.
With the current U.S. adult RDA of magnesium of 320-420 mg per day3 , the average American’s intake is only slightly more than half the minimum amount of magnesium required to function effectively.2 In fact, even this drastic figure may be an understatement. Many medical researchers find the RDA figures inadequate to prevent deficiencies of magnesium and chronic disease.4
Well, one way to increase our magnesium intake is to increase the amount of magnesium rich foods we consume on a regular basis. You should probably try to eat at least one serving of one of those foods daily.
Another way to increase your levels of magnesium is with Ancient Minerals. Yes, epsom salts are a way to increase magnesium. However, Epsom salts are magnesium slate. Ancient Minerals uses magnesium chloride. Not all types of magnesium deliver the same recognizable benefits. Like other minerals of nutritional value, magnesium occurs as various inorganic and organic forms in nature. Each of these forms has varying degrees of efficiency in human biochemistry.
Now that you have some background information on magnesium, let me tell you about our experience with Ancient Minerals.
These gigantic Ancient Minerals Magnesium Bath Flakes have been fantastic for Michael to use after along work day on his feet. He will toss a couple handfuls into a tub full of hot water and just soak the aches away. He absolutely loves these bath flakes. Did I mention that they are huge?

This is the Ancient Minerals Ultra Magnesium Oil.
I sprayed three squirts into my hand here so that you can see that it is a bit creamy, barely thicker than water, but practically clear.
We have used the oil for multiple things. Brandon has used it on growing pains in his legs. Michael and I have used it for tired, achy feet. Daniella likes to have some sprayed on her belly before she goes to bed at night - and she sleeps better when she does. We have also found that when Brandon uses it, he can stay focused longer. I have also found that rubbing some on my belly alleviates nausea quickly.  We have all benefited from this increase of magnesium.
Ancient Minerals wants to help you have similar benefits. So much so that they want you to use coupon code NATURALLY to save 15% off of any product in the Ancient Minerals line!
