Reusable Mama Cloth Pads for Incontinence, Menstruation, Postpartum (Review with Giveaway, Ends 05/13/14, US Only)

Disclosure: I received a free three pack of mama cloth in exchange for my honest opinion about them.
I was very excited when Peepods agreed to let me review their Mama cloth products. I have a couple of other brands of reusable menstrual products, but wasn't overly happy with my current mama cloth.
One of the first things I noticed with the Peepods pads was that they didn't have inserts like the other brand I have.  Don't get me wrong, inserts provide extra absorbency, but they are a pain to keep up with in the laundry. I was excited to not have the worry of keeping up with inserts, but wondered about the absorbency level of the Peepods.
I received the Peepods Period Pads in Espresso. Are the fabrics so pretty and feminine? Mine came in a set of three, although Peepods has since began selling a deluxe set of seven period pads which features some new kinds of fabric wings.
^This picture shows the bottom of the cloth pads. You can see the wings and the snap used to fasten them to my panties. In the other brand of cloth pads I have, under the snap is where the pocket for the inserts is located.
^This picture shows the top of the cloth pads. I like that they are a dark color to help hide the color of the menstrual blood.
I used my Peepods for three menstrual cycles, alternating with my menstrual cup as I normally do, but not using my regular brand of cloth pads. I have to say that I was very surprised at how absorbent the pads were without the inserts. In fact, they were even more absorbent. Plus, the Peepods have what reminds me of a PUL on a cloth diaper so I felt like the Peepods protected my clothing and sheets better than my other brand. Alternating the Peepods with my menstrual cup enabled the set of three to be the perfect amount of pads for my cycle. If you don't use a menstrual cup or if you have a very long or very heavy cycle, I would recommend that you purchase the set of seven or even a set of both the seven and the three.
Peepods also sells panty liners in a set of three and night pads that are good for overnight, heavy cycles or postpartum. Each set has several options for the wing fabric and/or the pad fabric.
Peepods has offered a discount code for you! Use coupon code: MYPEEPODS to save 10% off on the entire site.
Yes, mama cloth is more expensive upfront than disposable products. But there's two great things that come with that -
1. No more nasty chemicals on or in the most sensitive and delicate part of your body.
2. From the research that I have done, cloth pads have a life expectancy of five years or more. They totally pay for themselves within the first year.

What's It Like, Living Green? Kids Teaching Kids, by the Way They Live Book (Review with Giveaway, Ends 05/12/14, US Only)

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

These days, there's a lot of talk about living green, but does anyone actually do it? In What's It Like, Living Green? Kids Teaching Kids, by the Way They Live, you'll learn how other kids live green, along with tips as simple as putting on a sweater rather than turning up the heat. You'll see how kids like you can make a difference. Read about a teenage girl who learned to drive with a car fueled by used cooking grease. Learn about a boy who raised funds to build his first well to provide clean water for a whole village when he was only seven years old. You will learn simple ways to help the environment, help others, and even earn some money. For Ages 9 and up--Printed on 30% Post Consumer Paper

Obviously, if you are a regular reader of my blog, you know that we live a green, all natural, and organic lifestyle as much as possible. So when I saw this book, it intrigued me as something that Brandon might enjoy reading. I will be honest and say that he kept putting off reading it and I finally just told him that he needed to read it. He read the entire book in one sitting, mostly sitting outside in our porch swing enjoying nature while reading. I wish that I had gotten a picture of him out there, but the sun was too bright!

Most of the book was somebody talking about how they are being green. Some parts was the author telling the reader about how they can be green. Some parents tell about how their children do it. The teenagers of a family even told about how they or their family live green. The author told about how using cloth grocery store bags were important. A teenager did something along the same line but shared a report that she did about what happened to plastic bags that were dumped into the sea.
I like that it gave lots of real examples of how to be green. I knew some of them such as, turning off the light when you leave a room or using cloth grocery store bags. My family regularly does both of those really well.
This is not a book that I would have normally chosen to read, meaning that I wouldn't have gone to the library and brought this book home. But the book was written in an interesting way that held my attention.

Make Your Leather Look New Naturally with Chamberlain's Leather Milk Leather Care Liniment No. 1 Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
I don't know which of us was more excited to review this product, Michael or I. He was excited because anything that involves cars is sure to bring a smile to his face. I was excited because it meant that my truck got a thorough cleaning, conditioning, vacuuming, etc.

What is Chamberlain's Leather Milk Leather Care Liniment No. 1? It is a milky, water-based natural leather care recipe containing some remarkable leather enriching ingredients. This product contains oils that can be described as ‘lighter’ rather than ‘heavier’ oil types; and, because the product is water-based, it also works as a mild cleaner.  In practical terms what this means is that for leather items that benefit from being ‘refreshed’ frequently, without having to worry about overloading your leather with oils and conditioners…Leather Care Liniment is the perfect solution!  For instance, leather coats, bags, auto interiors, and furniture…these are the kinds of things that are exposed to public scrutiny and human touch on a regular basis.  You can use Leather Care Liniment often, for a quick, effective, cleaning and revitalizing result.

Just as milk is a primary nutrient for so much of animal and human life, so Chamberlain’s Leather Milk is for all things leather.  Those who buy our products tend to be people who own quality leather items (leather furniture, luxurious auto interiors, leather briefcases, purses, and luggage); and, they tend to be people who know how to take care of their good stuff.  This is how it is with quality leather goods: the leather needs to be cared for in a particular way and in regular fashion for it to look its best and last for years to come.  Chamberlain’s Leather Milk was created for just this purpose!  Made from natural, leather-nutrient-rich ingredients; concocted from natural oils and conditioners, plus a few highly classified mystical properties…Chamberlain’s Leather Milk will feed, strengthen, and beautify your leather goods.  Try it on your leather coat and matching gloves, or your motorcycle gear…we even have something for your hunting boots!  Start Milking your leather today!

I was sent a bottle of Chamberlain's Leather Milk Leather Care Liniment No. 1  plus 2 reusable cotton terry applicator pads.

I got to take pictures while Michael gave the leather seats in my SUV an initial wipe down to remove the majority of the regular daily soil on them.

I laughed when I read the instructions on the labels. It's awesome to see a company with such a great sense of humor.
Here are the Before pictures-
^This is the third row in my SUV.^

^This is the second row in my SUV with the one seat slid forward that gives access to the back row.^

^This is a look down at the third row from the trunk.^

^This is the second row with all three seats in place.^

^This is the second row from the other side of the truck. I wanted to highlight this area because this is where Daniella's car seat sits. I particularly wanted to show this because we all know how much gunk gets under a car seat, even if you clean under it regularly.^

^This is the front passenger seat.^

^This is the driver's seat, obviously.^

Here you can see Michael pouring the Chamberlain's Leather Milk Leather Care Liniment No. 1 onto one of the applicator pads. It's a bit runny like milk. While that is consistent with the name, I think we would have liked it better if it were a bit thicker, more gel-like.

The Chamberlain's Leather Milk Leather Care Liniment No. 1  was super easy to apply once Michael got the hang of how much to pour onto the applicator pad at a time without it spilling over the edges.

You literally just have to rub it all over and buff it a little.
Here are the After pictures -
The difference was amazing! Look at how shiny and conditioned they look!

^This is obviously the front seats.^

^This is the third row.^

^Here's the second row.^ See the incredible difference in Daniella's car seat spot? Wow!
Other things to note:
The Chamberlain's Leather Milk Leather Care Liniment No. 1 had a light scent that reminded us of cherries and almonds.
A little bit goes along way. Using the Chamberlain's Leather Milk Leather Care Liniment No. 1 on eight leather seats plus four interior doors only used 1/3 of the bottle!
They are a bit expensive compared to other brands, but we truly feel that it's worth the extra money. Especially because a little goes so far.
One thing that I would like to see from Chamberlain's Leather Milk Leather Care in the future would be a full disclosure of their ingredients as this is something very important to those of us who are into truly natural products.

Sweeten Life Naturally with Stevia From NuNaturals (Review with Giveaway, Ends 05/09/14, Worldwide - FOUR WINNERS!!!!)

Disclosure: We received several NuNaturals products for free in exchange for our honest opinion about them.

NuNaturals has such a wide variety of stevia products. Stevia and raw honey are the only two sweeteners we use in our home regularly (though sometimes we will use xylitol in small quantities. But since xylitol can cause stomach upset in larger quantities, we by far prefer stevia). We love that stevia is natural, plant based, and doesn't affect insulin levels, making if the perfect sweetener for diabetics. Stevia is also naturally gluten free. When I asked NuNaturals about their products being gluten free, I received this fantastic response:
"Our products do not contain ingredients that contain gluten produced in gluten free facilities. The "Natural flavors" found in our products are Allal plant extracts. They do not contain natural flavors that are known to cause allergic reactions in the body. There have been over a billion servings sold without one negative reaction reported to us. With that track record we are confident that our Stevia products are very non-allergenic."

Good to know, right? 😃

I am almost positive that NuNaturals sent me one of every kind of their extensive amount of stevia products.

They have MANY tasty varieties as well as several different forms of stevia.

NuNaturals has powdered stevia sold in packets which I keep in my purse for when we go out to eat to use to sweeten my tea.

The powdered shaker of stevia works well for baking.

NuNaturals has bunches of flavors of liquid stevia drops. We found so many ways of using these! We lived adding them to our tea and trying various flavor combinations. I think my favorites were Orange + Lemon and Cherry Vanilla! My husband REALLY liked the unique flavor of the Lo Han Supreme. He also routinely began using the peppermint in his morning coffee!

I decided to try a new gluten free pie dough I recently discovered. I haven't baked a pie in a long time, but a blueberry-lemon pie sounded delicious...only I was out of lemon...or was I? I used the Lemon flavored stevia!

I added several drops into the pie filling.

Just blueberries, NuNaturals Lemon Stevia drops, vanilla extract, Kerrygold butter, and cinnamon...that's it!

Here you see me dripping the Lemon Stevia drops in!

The pie is baking.

And it's finished! It smelled so delicious while it was baking. I could literally smell the lemon and blueberry blending!
This pie is fabulously delicious!!! The Lemon stevia sweetened it just right while adding great flavor.
