"The health benefits of peppermint oil include its ability to treat indigestion, respiratory problems, headache, nausea, fever, stomach and bowel spasms, as well as for pain relief." (Source - http://www.organicfacts.net/organic-oils/natural-essential-oils/health-benefits-of-peppermint-oil.html)

I have primarily been using my peppermint essential oil for treating my migraines. Typically, I don't have them often (perhaps once a month) due to regular chiropractic care. Lately, I have been under a great deal of stress and have experienced migraines more often than normal. Thankfully, my peppermint essential oil knocks them out quickly before the migraines take over. I have also used the peppermint essential oil for nausea a few times. Because peppermint essential oil is very strong, I have been blending it with extra virgin olive oil. I have been applying it on my temples for migraines and my belly for nausea.

"The health benefits of lavender essential oil include its ability to eliminate nervous tension, relieve pain, disinfect the scalp and skin, enhance blood circulation and treat respiratory problems. The Latin name of lavender is Lavare, which means “to wash”, due to its aroma which has a particularly clean aroma." Our lavender essential oil has been primarily used for treating Daniella's eczema. I apply the lavender essential oil directly to her eczema without blending it with extra virgin olive oil because it is a very gentle essential oil. I have noticed less scratching from her on the days that I have applied it. There have even been several times when she has asked me to apply her lavender. I have also used the lavender essential oil when I am feeling stressed or when I need sleep. When I have used it for me, I primarily apply it to my wrists where a quick sniff can bring me relief. I have always loved the scent of lavender!

"The health benefits of lemon oil can be attributed to its stimulating, calming, carminative, anti-infection, astringent, detoxifying, antiseptic, disinfectant, sleep inducing, and antifungal properties. The benefits of lemon oil include its ability to treat stress disorders, fever, infections, asthma, obesity, insomnia, skin disorders, hair conditions, stomach problems and tiredness." The primary way we have used the lemon essential oil has been for skin conditions. I have used this along with other natural remedies in my battle against a couple of seed warts on my foot. We have used the lemon essential oil on cuts and other small wounds. This one is also gentle enough that we mostly used it without blending it with extra virgin olive oil.

We recently came in close contact with a child who had head lice. I went into a panic. Then I remembered that I have come to love our essential oils. I did some research and learned that tea tree essential oil works wonderfully at repelling and treating head lice and is MUCH safer than the chemical shampoos and sprays that are typically used. Because it was close contact with the child, I didn't have the time to order a bottle of tea tree oil. Luckily, my chiropractor's office sells it so we bought a bottle of it from him. We blended a few drops each of the tea tree essential oil, lemon essential oil, and about double as many drops of extra virgin olive oil. I then applied this in Daniella's hair and mine. Guess what? Neither of us got head lice!

Daniella has seriously come to love her lavender essential oil.

Overall , we have been extremely pleased with having essential oils enter our life. I am so glad to have something so simple on hand that can each treat several ailments.
